The Coalition of University based Unions of Usman Danfodiyo University has condemned what it called the ”inhumane and senseless attack” on Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru after the wrongful announcement of result of Adamawa State governorship supplementary election.
At a news briefing in Sokoto on Thursday, the Chairperson of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Usman Danfodiyo University chapter, Muhammad Nuruddeen Almustapha on behalf of the Unions urged the INEC and the Nigeria Police to launch a full-scale investigation into the matter with a view to maintaining the hard-earned reputation of the professor.
The Unions also demand that INEC issue a press statement condemning the attack as well as clear the air on the purported lies spread against the personality of Professor.
According to Almustapha, the professor was only sent to supervise the supplementary election and was not the one that announced the result of the Adamawa election.
He added that the professor had served the University system for four years as a Vice Chancellor with record of excellent service.
