The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, SOKAPU, has appealed to both Federal and the State Government to empower local vigilante to assist security forces deployed to the area to curtail recurrence of bandits attacks in the area.
National President of the Union, Mr. Aweni Dio Maisamari made the appealed while addressing Newsmen on recurring incidences of Night attacks by bandits especially in Zango Kataf Local Government Area.
He said the local vigilante has been providing tremendous security assistance security and preventing the attackers from advancing and killing more innocent people whenever they invade their communities.
Mr. Dio Maisamari noted that these categories of people were helping the security operatives and therefore should be commended and not be discouraged.
According to him, the union has approached foreign organizations such as the African Union, ECOWAS, the United Nations and Amnesty International for their intervention because the prevailing situation in the zone was becoming unbearable.
