Rivers United are at the brink of being eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup after allowing Tanzanian side Young Africans score two goals at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sunday.
Young Africans took the lead in the 73rd minute through Fiston Mayele who is from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Mayele netted the second goal nine minutes from regulation time.
In the reverse fixture, Rivers United will need to score three goals without conceding to go through the next stage of the competition.
The return leg is scheduled to take place next week Sunday at the Benjamin Nkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
Whoever wins the the contest will face either of Gallants FC of South Africa or Egypt’s Pyramids in the semi-finals.
