The Federal Government has published emergency numbers for stranded Nigerians in Sudan.

In a joint statement by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development on Tuesday, the Government appealed to parents to advise their wards that while concerted efforts are being made to evacuate them, the students should endeavour to keep in touch with the Nigerian officials through the telephone numbers,

The emergency numbers are” +2348035866773, +249961956284, +2348063636862, +249961956274, +2349066663493.

It urged Nigerians, particularly students, to maintain constant communication with officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Sudan for instructions and updates from Embassy Officials.

The statement assured Nigerians that the Federal Government was collaborating with relevant organisations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nigerian Missions in the countries bordering Sudan, as well as with International Humanitarian Organisations, such as International Organisation for Migration (IOM), to immediately evacuate Nigerian Students and other affected Nigerian citizens caught up in the war-torn country.

It also warned the students against “undertaking treacherous journeys” to the borders on their own, in view of the dangers involved.

Concrete plans are underway to deploy, as soon as possible, air transport to evacuate all stranded Nigerian citizens through the identified safe transit areas back home to Nigeria safely, it added.
