Ebonyi State Government has approved N1billion as part payment of gratuities due to retired civil servants since inception of the state.
The decision was taken at the State Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki.
The Commissioner for Information in the State, Chief Uchenna Orji who said total outstanding gratuities stood at N4.2billion, maintained that the Council also approved over N485 million for the payment of arrears of pension to retired civil servants during previous administrations and the present one.
He said the State Government also approved N500 million for the payment of gratuities to Local Government Retirees, emphasizing that Local Governments were no backlogs at that level.
He also announced the approval of N300 million as subvention to Ebonyi State University as well as the release of N200 million to David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital and David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences all in Uburu.
According to the Commissioner, the State government also approved the payment of N15,000 as exit package to each of the state civil servant and N10,000 to Local government Employees.
