The Federal Government has earmarked $1.2 million to procure 40 buses for the evacuation of Nigerians stranded in Sudan.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, told Journalists after the Federal Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday that the government will take advantage of the 72-hour ceasefire in Sudan to evacuate Nigerians trapped in the war ravaged country as arrangements have been reached with the Sudanese Government.
During the evacuation, priority will not be accorded any diplomat, he said, adding that the government will prioritise women and children.
No Nigerian had died in the war, he remarked, stressing that the first batch of Nigerians were already being evacuated to Egypt, where they will be airlifted to the country.
Some Nigerians have already been transported to Saudi Arabia for airlifting, the Minister added.
