Media practitioners tasked on professionalism

A News Editor with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, (FRCN), comrade Tersoo Zamber says the conventional media can correct the imbalance created by the social media in public communication.

Comrade Zamber made the suggestion on a virtual panel discussion which focused on Identity Politics and Victimization in the Age of the Digital Media.

The event was organized by the Centre for Victimology and Psychological Studies and Jindal Institute of Behavioral Science in collaboration with O.P Jindal Global University, India.

Speaking on the topic “Propaganda in the Age of Digital Media: Whose Narrative?” Comrade Zamber maintained that the digital media had propagated stereotype narratives against individuals and groups who have become victims of such propaganda.

According to the Chairman, NUJ, FRCN Headquarters Chapel, it is the duty of the traditional media to leverage its professionalism by setting the records straight for common good.

Other panelists aso urged the mainstream media to step up its reportage on critical public issues to avoid the unsuspecting public to be hoodwinked by the wrong narratives of the digital media.
