No fewer than 62 suspects including a serving National Youth Service Corps Member and an Ex-convict have been arrested by the Ilorin Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for alleged internet fraud otherwise known as “yahoo-yahoo” in Kwara State.
In a statement on Friday, the Commission’s Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren said the arrests, which were carried out in two separate operations involved one Raji Wasiu Babatunde whom the Commission arrested last year, prosecuted and got convicted, and now re-arrested.
It said the convict was arrested alongside 25 other suspects in an early hour operation carried out at different locations in Ilorin.
According to the statement, while acting on credible intelligence, the anti-graft men rounded up another set of suspected fraudsters in their hideouts within the metropolis leading to the arrest of a serving corps member, Salaudeen Muhammed and 35 others.
Items recovered from the suspects include exotic cars, different brand of phones, laptops, and charms among others.
The statement maintained that all the suspects will be charged to court as soon as Investigations are concluded.
