President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of twelve nominees as members of the Governing Board of the North-East Development Commission, NEDC.
The request is necessitated by the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent Governing Board of the NEDC this Sunday.
The nominees include Alhaji Bashir Baale from Yobe State, to serve as Chairman, Madam Suwaiba Baba from Taraba, as Executive Director, Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Musa Yashi from Bauchi, as Executive Director, Administration and Finance, and Dr. Ismaila Maksha from Adamawa, as Executive Director, Operations.
Alhaji Umar Hashidu from Gombe is to serve as MD/CEO,
Other members of the board are Grema Ali from Borno, Onyeka Gospel-Tony from South-East, Mrs Hailmary Aipoh from South-South, and retired Air Commodore Babatunde Akanbi from South-West.
The rest are Alhaji Mustapha Ibrahim, from North-West, Mrs. Hadiza Maina, North-Central and a representative from the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning.
The President expressed the hope that his request would receive the usual expeditious consideration and confirmation of the Senate.
