The Director General National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed wants the NYSC Trust Fund bill to be signed into law to enable the Scheme to remain stronger in the actualization of its mandate.
He made the call during a familiarization tour of National Youth Service Corps Permanent Orientation Camp in Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
Brigadier General Ahmed who was accompanied by other principal officers said the Scheme had contributed immensely to the development of the country especially in the health, educational and agricultural sectors.
He called on stakeholders to support efforts aimed at making it stronger.
The State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Bamia Mercy said the operations of the scheme in Ebonyi State were faced with myriad of challenges including non-existence of functional NYSC State Governing Board and Local Government Committee, lack of operational vehicle as well as electricity supply to the Camp.
She also expressed worry over non-completion of renovation work at the Camp by the state government.
Mrs. Mercy however commended the Corps members for being of good character and participating actively in the programmes.
