LeBron James’ 30 points with Anthony Davis’ 17 points and 20 rebounds did see the Los Angeles Lakers seal a spot in the Western Conference finals with a 122-101 win over champions the Golden State Warriors on Friday night.
The victory gave Lakers an unassailable 4-2 lead in the series as it eliminated defending NBA champions Warriors.
Lakers will now move on to face Denver Nuggets on Tuesday.
Warriors lost to a Western Conference team in the playoffs for the first time since Steve Kerr became head coach in the 2014/15 season.
While Bam Adebayo recorded 23 points and nine rebounds with Jimmy Butler scoring 24 points and adding eight rebounds to help Miami Heat to a 96-92 victory over the New York Knicks to win their Eastern Conference semi-final series in six games.
Miami Heat are in the Conference finals for the third time in four seasons, and will face the winner of the semi-final series between the third-seeded Philadelphia 76ers and second-seeded Boston Celtics with that series tied at 3-3 ahead of Sunday’s decisive Game 7.
