1 dead, 2 rescued from well in Kano

A 25-year-old man has drowned after accidentally falling into a well in Gudantile Village in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi said the tragedy occurred on Tuesday, and that all efforts by residents to save the man from drowning proved abortive.

According to Mr Abdullahi, men of the Fire Service had managed to bring him out of the well unconscious, only for health officials to confirm him dead later on.

Similarly, a 19-year-old man, Umar Bashir and his 50-year-old father were evacuated alive from a well at Kawo Lambu Jirga, Tarauni local government area.

Umar was reported to have been trapped in the well after trying to retrieve a valuable item, while his father tried to assist him, and both got sucked in.

The public relations officer, Kano state fire service, Mr Abdullahi, said both father and son were rescued and are currently receiving medical attention in hospital.
