DG National Senior Citizens Centre NSCC Emem Omokaro.
The National Senior Citizens Centre NSCC has developed a model for Certified Caregivers to cater for senior citizens across the country especially in rural areas.
The Director General of the Centre, Emem Omokaro, who stated this during the validation of draft national benchmark for training older people care givers in Abuja, explained that the Agency was also working on a framework for care facility operators to reach out to the aged even in their homes.
The DG NSCC said the National Board for Technical Education has a major stake in the classification and development of the curriculum to ensure that caregivers become important entity as obtained in other climes
Dr. Omokaro noted that financing of the policy would be more innovative and effective stressing the agency was collaborating with the Health insurance companies at what products was available that can align with, community care for the older persons in the country.
Dr. Omokaro explained that NSCC has produced a draft of the standard curriculum for training of caregivers and has put in place mechanism for accessing the trainers training centers
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Mr. Mahmuda Mamman represented by a Director in the Ministry, Mr. John Ovuoraye said, collaboration with the Centre would go a long way in improving the standard of living of the senior citizens across the country.
