DG FRCN, Dr Mansur Liman and Adeniyi Bakare after receiving the BON award as Reporter of the Year under the Radio Category

Radio Nigeria Principal Reporter, Adeniyi Bakare has won the Reporter of the Year Award organised by the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON).

Adeniyi’s reports on Extortion in AEDC, Kubwa Office, FCT, alongside other compelling stories, earned him the Award.

The BON Media Merit Awards’ inaugural edition was held in Lagos on Wednesday, with great pomp and splendour.

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) was recognised with numerous awards and nominations, further cementing its impressive track record.

The Corporation was honoured with the Special Recognition Award for its “exceptional contributions” to the advancement of the Broadcast industry.

Director-General of FRCN, Dr Mansur Liman congratulated all those who made the corporation proud.

“This award ceremony is very important and encouraging. It is one of the promises made by the current leadership of the Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria to motivate people who are working hard in the industry”. I am very much delighted that the industry has recognized the contribution of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria to Radio development in Nigeria. This is natural because if you look at most of the radio stations in this country, there is hardly any radio station without someone who was trained by the standard of Radio Nigeria either directly or indirectly. This is an award that I think we deserve”.

According to Mr John Ugbe, the Chairman of BON, the event provided a platform to highlight the exceptional skills present in the country’s broadcasting sector.

Dignitaries, including the representative of the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and several Directors of the FRCN, graced the colourful event.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of a Posthumous Award to Modibo Dahiru, a former Director General of FRCN, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the broadcast industry in Nigeria.
