The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has warned of an approaching severe thunderstorm observed from the Northeastern part of the country.
In a statement by the NiMet Spokesman, Muntari Ibrahim on Thursday, the severe thunderstorm cells would be observed over the North-eastern parts of the country with moderate to heavy rains.
It said where thunderstorms are expected strong winds are likely to precede the rains and as such, trees, electric poles, unsecured objects and weak buildings may fall.
NiMet therefore advised the public to be cautious and stay in-door especially during heavy rainfall to avoid being struck by lightning.
It also urged Airline operators to avail themselves with weather reports periodically from the Agency for effective planning in their operations.
