Effective Thursday, May 18, 2023, Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein assumes her new role, having previously served as the Director of Finance and Accounts in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).
Madein holds a critical position responsible for overseeing the management of the nation’s finances.
Her key responsibilities include ensuring transparency and accountability in financial matters, facilitating the effective implementation of the national budget, providing accurate and timely financial reports, and maximizing revenue generation for sustainable national development.
Her appointment comes at a crucial time when Nigeria seeks to enhance its financial management practices and promote a culture of accountability and transparency.
The account general arrested
Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, in May 2022 had suspended Ahmed Idris, the then Accountant-General of the Federation.
The action came in light of an allegation of N80 billion fraud levied against Mr Idris, who was subsequently arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano.
