Jeff Bezos’ company, Blue Origin and its team has won a $3.4billion contract to create a spaceship for the Artemis V mission to transport astronauts from earth to the moon’s surface and back.
This is according to statement released on Friday by NASA.
“Today we are excited to announce Blue Origin will build a human landing system as NASA’s second provider to deliver Artemis astronauts to the lunar surface,” said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson.
NASA, through the Artemis V mission intends to have an intense exploration of the Moon than has ever been done, and also to set a pace for future missions to planet Mars.
Blue Origin’s contract includes an uncrewed demonstration mission to the lunar surface before a crewed demo on the Artemis V mission in 2029.
