Marvel actor Ray Stevenson who played as Volstagg in the Thor films and a main antagonist in the upcoming Star Wars series Ahsoka, has died at age 58.
Representatives of Stevenson said he was hospitalized with sudden illness while filming in Italy and confirmed dead on Sunday four days to his 59th birthday.
The British actor born in Northern Ireland was also known in the Divergent series, amongst other movies he has featured in as well as several UK TV shows like Band of Gold, Peak Practice and Murphy’s Law.
Stevenson’s co-stars have been paying tribute to the late actor on social media.
Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis wrote on Twitter “This is so sad. Ray played my dad in the first thing I ever did on TV. Almost 30 years ago. A proper actor with a fascinating career and I couldn’t have dreamed of a better first experience in this ridiculous industry.”
Scott Adkins, who starred alongside Stevenson in Accident Man, sad he was “shocked and saddened by the tragic news”, adding: “I will miss you, Big Ray!”
