Sponsor of the FCT school sports festival dry-run Ratels Sports Development Foundation (RSDF) has rewarded athletes that excelled at the competition.
The reward worth over N5m was presented to the athletes at the FCT Secretariat in Abuja on Saturday.
At the award presentation, President Ratels Sports Development Foundation, Paul Edeh expressed delight that the festival which began as a dream with the signing of memorandum of understanding has become a reality with the conclusion of the dry-run event.
“This is not a speech making day but to express first our gratitude to the FCT administration for trusting us to be able to undertake such a huge task and we are happy because we are not here to give a wrong account but to give a worthy account for that trust you in us,” he said.
Edeh commended the tireless effort of the joint planning committee and FCT Administration, with the hope of full scale Sports Festival in September 2023.
While appreciating the athletes for their feat, Secretary for Education, FCT, Sani Dahir EL-Katuzu, commended the sponsor of the festival for bringing out the hidden talents among the students in Federal Capital Territory.
One of the beneficiaries, Samuel Olasukomi from Government Secondary School, Garki who won 800meters, 400 meters and high jump is looking forward to becoming an elite athlete.
“I want to say thank you to the sponsors and organizers for helping me to receive the first award in my life and honesty feel very excited”, he said.
Kwaba Pascaline from GSS Karu emerged best in debate completion and it was a dream come through according to her.
50 Schools participated in the festival selected across Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary and private schools in the FCT.
