17-year-old Nigerian wins Guinness World Record in rope skipping

Guinness World Record has confirmed 17- year-old student of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure, Ondo State, Philip Solomon as the record holder for most skips on one foot in 30 seconds.

On January 24, 2023 Solomon officially recorded 153 skips on one foot in 30 seconds to erase the former record holder, Rasel Islam of Bangladesh whose record was 145 skips in 30 seconds.

His record was officially confirmed by the Guinness World Record on Tuesday, four months after his attempt.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, Solomon who was elated at his achievement appreciated all who supported him to achieve the feat.

Ondo State Rope Skipping Coach, Chibuisi Ukandu noted that with the record, rope skipping had gained more recognition and appealed for support from stakeholders.
