Oladiji emerges Speaker, Ondo10th Assembly

New speaker Ondo State Olamide oladiji representing Ondo East

The 10th assembly in Ondo State has been inaugurated at the assembly complex in Akure.

The event, which held on Saturday, commenced with the clerk of the house, Benjamin Jaiyeola, reading out the proclamation of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Mr Jaiyeola thereafter read a roll call of all members-elect as sent by INEC and their certificates of return submitted for authentication.

The clerk also charged the lawmakers to declare their assets to the public.

During the session, Olamide oladiji, representing Ondo east constituency, was elected speaker after he was nominated unopposed by lawmaker representing ifedore, temitope Akomolafe and Biola Oladapo of Ondo west 2.

Prince Abayomi Akinruntan, representing Ilaje 1, was also elected unopposed to the post of deputy speaker.

The clerk then handed over instruments of office to the speaker.

Addressing the assembly, the new speaker promised the 10th assembly would ensure checks and balances in the affairs of Ondo State, thereby bringing the dividends of democracy to the people.
