NATCOM gets new DG

Dr. Adejare Adegbenro,

Adejare Adegbenro has emerged as the acting Director-General, National Commission against the Proliferation of Arms, Light Weapons and Pipeline Vandalism (NATCOM), with a renewed commitment to fight illegal importation of arms and light weapons.

Dr Adegbenro emerged as the Commission’s acting DG during a strategic meeting in abuja.

He said under his watch, there would be no room for merchants of conflict and crime, and expressed support for the new administration.

Earlier, a vote of no confidence was passed on the former Director-General of the Commission, Dr Baba Mohammed, by the Directors and State Commandants of the Organisation.

Presenting the position, Secretary, National Standing committee, Dr Fidel Adaba, attributed the move to the lack of accountability and transparency.

Dr Adaba reiterated that the decision to install Dr Adegbenro as the Acting Director-General of the Commission was that of the council’s members of state, directors and Commandants.
