Ukraine’s military has accused Russian forces of blowing up a major dam in the Moscow-seized region of Kherson, south of the country.
A local military official said at least eight different settlements in the region are already flooded.
Officials say evacuations are already under way, with at least 16,000 people at risk from the floodwaters.
BBC reports that a Russian-installed local official said only the power plant’s upper part was destroyed by shelling – but not the dam itself.
