Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state Governor, has inaugurated two Assets Recovery Committees.
According to a statement on Sunday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the committees will work at the state and Local Government levels.
The committees are mandated to ascertain all assets of the government including lands, vehicles, houses, furniture and other machinery.
The statement says, Mr Hingah Biem will head the committee at the state level and both committees will have representatives from the Department of State Security, Police, Military and Nigerian Civil Defence Corps.
Similarly, the Governor inaugurated a Facts Finding Committee for the Benue State University (BSU) which Reverend Paul Biam will serve as Chairman.
Governor Alia had accused immediate past administration of massive looting of the government house in Makurdi saying he met no single official car.
Besides, the Governor also disclosed that he inherited an empty treasury and accumulated months of unpaid salaries and entitlements of civil servants and pensioners in the state.
Governor Alia also on the 7th of June nullified appointments into the State Civil Service made by the outgone administration from May 2022 to date.
