A Human Rights Activist , Ibrahim Abdullahi has decried the alleged extortion of Ram sellers in the Federal Capital Territory by men of the Abuja Environmental protection Board (AEPB).
Mr Abdullahi, who voiced his displeasure in an interview with Radio Nigeria on Friday in Abuja, faulted the “arbitrary seizure” of rams from various sellers around the territory under the pretext of maintaining sanity in the FCT.
He said rather than making the business environment difficult for Ram sellers, the management should use the opportunity to generate revenue for the FCT administration .
In a reaction, the Deputy Director, Information , AEPB, Janet Peni, said the FCT administration has prohibited the selling of Rams outside designated Markets in the territory .
On the alleged extortion of Ram sellers , Mrs Peni said it could be the handiwork of touts parading themselves as AEPB staff.
