Some Civil Society Groups have called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the security situation in Kogi State.
The Groups are Kogi Conscience, Igala Youths Council, and Makoji Ata Foundation.
They carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘Stop illegal arrests and detention of Kogites’, ‘Stop the killing of Igala/Bassa people in Kogi State’, and ‘Let peace reign in Kogi State’.

During the peaceful protest to the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, the Convener of the Groups, Comrade Okpanachi Jacob appealed to President Tinubu and relevant security agencies to ensure thorough investigation and prosecution of those involved in the alleged acts of violence.
Comrade Jacob alleged that the violence had continued in the lead-up to the 2023 general election, with numerous incidents involving attacks on political opponents and their properties.
The Groups later submitted petition letters to the Service Chiefs.
