An Israeli aerial bombardment of the West Bank city of Jenin has resulted into drone strikes and gun battles between Israel’s army and Palestinian militants in the occupied territory.

According to BBC, the multiple-drone attack by the Israeli forces, which have reportedly killed at least five Palestinians and injured 30 others, began in the early hours of Monday.

A statement by Israel’s Defense Forces (IDF) has alleged that the occupied West Bank is being used by terrorist as a hide-out, claiming that troops were only striking terrorists infrastructure in the Jenin area.

According to the IDF, at least 7 militants have been killed.

The so-called “Jenin Battalion” consisting armed men from Palestinian groups such as Fatah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad, has responded, vowing to fight the occupation forces until their last breath and bullet.

The BBC reported a Palestinian ambulance driver, Khaled Alahmed, as describing the situation in the Jenin refugee camp as “real war”.

For the first time in years, the Israeli military utilized attack helicopters in the West Bank, last month, killing at least six Palestinians in the Jenin refugee camp.

Seven Israeli soldiers and border police officers were injured in that attack.
