Southern Pakistan train accident kills 19

Officials in southern Pakistan report that a train derailed, causing at least 19 fatalities and 50 injuries.

Wounded passengers have been moved to nearby hospital, while rescue teams are trying to free people from the twisted wreckage.

Report says the army rescue teams have been called in to assist.

The major hospitals in Nawabshah and surrounding Sindh districts have been put in an emergency.

Footage shared on social media show dozens of people at the site of the accident, with some passengers climbing out of the overturned coaches.

The Federal Minister for Railways and Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique is quoted by local media as saying officials would first focus on rescue efforts before investigating the cause of the accident.
