A group of Northern elders under the auspices of Arewa New Agenda, on Thursday called for the establishment of Inter-Faith Commission at the states level to address ethnic and religious conflicts.
The Group made the call in a communique at the end of a two day National Dialogue in Abuja.
The Convener of the group, Senator Ahmed Abubakar-MoAllahyidi, while presenting the communique, said peaceful coexistence was the foundation for any meaningful development.
Senator Abubakar-MoAllahyidi urged ethnic and religious leaders to educate their members on the significance of respecting cultures and religion of others as a sustainable means of mutual coexistence in the country.
The dialogue which focused on finding lasting security measures in the country, involved the Northern Councils of the Yorubas, the South South People’s Forum, the Igbo Delegate Assembly and the Fulbe United for Peace and Development of the Fulani extraction.
