Popular Nigerian artist Asake has been called out for paying tribute to deceased fans before his performance at 02 Arena concert held on Sunday in London.

In 2022, Rebecca Ikumelo and a security guard, Gabrielle Hutchinson, both died after sustaining injuries from a stampede at a show held by Asake.

Rachel, the sister of the late Rebecca took to X expressing her displeasure with Asake’s tribute, alleging that he has not contacted the family since the incident and barely nine months later he was back to London paying what she called a sorry excuse of a tribute.

She also criticized him for using Rebecca’s picture without the family consent.

The 28-year-old artist sending his condolence to the family said he had spoken to the family and will continue to, urging his fans to pray for the families of the deceased.
