Tinubu appoints Dekalu-Thomas as MD NELMCO

NELMCO is a Special Purpose Entity (SPE) under the Electricity Power Sector Reform Act (EPSR), 2005 to manage the Liabilities and Non-core Assets of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mojoyinoluwa Dekalu-Thomas as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO) for a term of four years.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Mrs. Dekalu-Thomas had served as the Acting MD/CEO of NELMCO since the tenure of pioneer NELMCO MD/CEO, Mr. Adebayo Fagbemi, ended on May 8th, 2023

It further explained that, her previous interim role and new substantive appointment have created a vacancy at her previous position: Executive Director, Liability Management.

Accordingly, he said, President Tinubu also approved the appointment of Dimla Joel Nchinney to serve in NELMCO as the substantive Executive Director, Liability Management.

It added that the appointments take immediate effect.

As President Tinubu assumes office, he has been appointing individuals to key government establishments, particularly as incumbent Directors-General and CEOs retire from their roles.

On August 22, President Tinubu directed, Aliyu Abubakar Aziz, Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), to proceed on a 90-day terminal leave.

Bisoye Coker-Odusote was to act as the Director-General until November, when she would resume as the substantive DG.
