Three hanged for 2016 Iraq bombing

The site of the bomb attack in Baghdad is now a shrine.

Iraq has hanged three persons convicted of being involved in a vehicle bombing in Baghdad that killed more than 300 people and injured hundreds in 2016.

The bomb exploded as people were enjoying a night out during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

The Islamic State group (IS) admitted carrying out the attack.

The attack is the deadliest single bombing in Iraq since the US-led invasion in 2003.

BBC reports that the executions were carried out between Sunday and Monday and those executed were not named.
