DATKEM Plaza
The Ogun State Government has partially demolished DATKEM Plaza in the Ijebu Ode area of the state.
The affected property is said to belong to Olufunke Daniel, the wife of former governor, Gbenga Daniel.
The government claims that the five-storey building was illegally situated, and thus violated the state’s physical planning laws.
On Sunday, the building was partially demolished “due to numerous defects and a lack of stage certification”, the government said.
It also insisted that the owners of the building had been served with “stop development and demolish” notices between May and October, 2022, but they were ignored.
But a statement signed by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Adeyinka Kotoye, said despite court papers being served on its agents, the government had proceeded with the demolition.
