X launches ID-based account verification

ID Verification is currently available in numerous countries and will soon be extended to include more, such as the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and the United Kingdom (UK). Photo: X

X, formerly known as Twitter, has launched government ID-based account verification for paid users to prevent impersonation.

X says the idea is also geared towards giving paid users benefits such as “prioritized support.”

On its support page, X said it has partnered with Israel-based Au10tix for identity verification solutions and described it as an appropriate step.

Users who go through the verification badge will have a note that says that their government ID was verified but they can only see it when they click on the blue checkmark on the profile page.

X also added that users with ID verification will get “prioritized support from X Services.
