A fire has broken out in a portion of the Supreme Court complex at the three-arms zone in Abuja, but no casualties have been reported.

According to Mr. Festus Akande, the Public Relations Officer for the Court, who spoke with some media on the telephone on Monday, the fire was caused by an electrical issue in one of the chambers of justice.

He said it was swiftly extinguished, though black smoke was still billowing as of press time.

Akande also addressed the rumours circulating on social media, stating that reports of casualties are false and should be regarded as “fake news.”

This report is developing; more details will be shared as they come in.
