Arsenal to step up interest in Toney- football gossip

Last season’s runners-up in the EPL, Arsenal, are reportedly ready to step up their interest in England international, Ivan Toney, in January.

Toney’s current team, Brentford, are said to be valuing the 27-year-old striker at £60 million.

The Thomas Francs-tutored side, for whom Toney has not featured due to an existing ban, are rumoured to be considering signing a new striker in January even if they do not sell their priced striker, who scored over 20 goals for them last season.

,Several internationals are thought to be on Brentford’s shortlist, including, Wolfsburg’s 24-year-old Denmark international, Jonas Wind; AZ Alkmaar’s 24-year-old Greece forward, Vangelis Pavlidis, and Santos‘ Brazil youth international, Marcos Leonardo, who is 20. Football analysts believe that Arsenal, who have not had a recognisable striker since the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubamiyan a few seasons ago, will have a far better chance of winning the Premier League for the first time in 20 years with Toney in their squad.

The Brentford striker is currently serving an eight-month suspension imposed on him by the FA for breaching betting rules.
