The Climate Action Platform for Africa (CAP-A) has appointed former vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo as its Chair of the Board of Directors.
This appointment follows the inaugural Africa Climate Summit in Kenya on September 6, which underscored the urgency of accelerated climate action.
CAP–A Founder James Mwangi, in a message, said Prof. Osinbajo’s expertise would advance CAP-A’s objectives.
Prof. Osinbajo, commenting on his new role, stated, “I have witnessed CAP-A’s efforts in reshaping Africa’s narrative from a climate crisis victim to a catalyst for global climate action. I am honoured to serve as Chair of the Board to support CAP-A’s teams and initiatives across the continent, promoting Africa’s sustainable economic development through climate-positive growth.”
Prof. Osinbajo served two terms as Vice President of Nigeria and previously held the positions of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State.
As a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, he is among the country’s top legal experts and formerly held the role of Professor and Head of the Department of Public Law at the University of Lagos.
