The Super Eagles of Nigeria were unable to secure a win as they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Warriors of Zimbabwe in their second World Cup qualifiers match on Sunday in Huye Stadium, Rwanda.
Walter Musona took the lead for the Warriors, delivering a remarkable 35-yard free-kick that evaded goalkeeper Francis Uzoho and found the back of the net after 26 minutes.
Replacement In the 67th minute, Kelechi Iheanacho, set up by Moses Simon, scored with a curling shot.
The Eagles failed to exhibit the stronger mentality and determination they had emphasized following the 1-1 draw with Lesotho in Uyo on Thursday.
Looking ahead, the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers are slated to resume in June 2024. Nigeria will play host to South Africa, the current leaders of Group C, before embarking on an away game against Benin Republic.
