20 years after the establishment of Power FM Bida under the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, the FRCN, is to open a studio for the Fm Bida station in Minna the State Capital.
The Zonal Director, Abuja Operations of FRCN, Hajiya Sherifat Ahmed, gave the indication when she inspected the the site at the Federal Resource Information Centre in Minna.
Power Fm 100.5 with a distance of 85 Kilometer from the state capital is one of the FRCN FM stations that is located in the ancient Nupe Kingdom in Bida, Niger State.
Due to the distance, the reception of the Station is poor in some parts of the state’s capital while the rough road leading to the area is also preventing effective patronage from listeners in Minna who are willing to advertise their products in the Station.
After over two decades with these challenges, the current Zonal Director, Hajiya Sherifat Ahmed, alongside the Deputy Director Engineering Abuja Operations, Alhaji Abubakar Bello, inspected the site where the studio is to be located.
The Zonal Director said the narrative must change in line with the Corporation’s mandate of informing and educating Nigerians on policies of the government, regardless of their ethnicity or location.
The Deputy Director Engineering, Alhaji Abubakar Bello said improved technology would be used to connect Bida Fm to Minna office in such a way that live or recorded programmes can be produced from either of the studios.
The General Manager of Power FM Bida, Comrade Abdulrasheed Abdulkareem, expressed optimism that with the commitment of the Zonal Director, the Minna office would soon be a reality.
In a remark, the coordinator Federal Information Resource Centre Minna, Hajiya Asabe Sule Garba described FRCN as an unbeatable partner and promised to support Power Fm to succeed.
One of the Highlight of the Zonal Director’s visit was the signing of an agreement with the Coordinator of the Federal Information Centre for the commencement of the studio work on earnest.
